Dubai, with an area of 3,885 square kilometres, is the second largest emirate in the UAE. Situated on the banks of the Dubai Creek, a natural inlet from the Gulf which divides the city into the Deira district to its north and Bur Dubai on its south.
Dubai has changed dramatically over the last three decades, becoming a major business centre with a more dynamic and diversified economy. Dubai enjoys a strategic location and serves as the biggest re-exporting centre in the Middle East.
As a result of intensive government investment, Dubai today boasts a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities and ongoing developments. Desalination plants, power stations, telecommunications systems, cargo-transport operations, exhibition facilities and convention halls all rank among the best in the world.
On 2 December 1971 Dubai, together with Abu Dhabi and five other emirates, formed the United Arab Emirates after former protector Britain left the Persian Gulf in 1971.
Dubai has a hot and, at times, humid climate (drier during extreme heat) with many months recording temperatures of over 40 °C (104 °F). The highest recorded temperature in Dubai is 47.3 °C (117.1 °F), and the lowest recorded temperature is 7 °C (45 °F).
I just happened upon your blog, and it appears to me that you require no advice...your work is fantastic! I look forward to checking back from time to time to see more photos and hope that you take them both of the grandeur of the UAE and of the culture because I would love to see both! Thank you for sharing your work, and good luck with your photography!
